Alana Spence, Health Counselor
As of mid-February, the SLO Hep C Project has had a familiar face move on and a new face come on-board. Conrad Mendoza, the program's Health Counselor since SLO Hep C Project started, has moved to a new and challenging position with the County, pursuing his goal to become a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. We congratulate Conrad on his new adventure and thank him most sincerely for the time, energy and compassion that he put into his role with SLO Hep C.
Stepping into Conrad's position is Alana Spence. Alana has worked with Achievement House and the adult developmentally disabled population for several years. Prior to that, she served in the U.S. Army, providing psycho-social support to soldiers returning from the conflicts overseas. During her time at Achievement House, Alana was also in school, with a concentration on health counseling / health education, so her experience and her education makes her a great candidate for working with underserved populations. Her counseling experience also will add depth to her leadership of the monthly support group for our Hep C clients.
All of us are pleased to have Alana on board and we hope that those of you who utilize our services will come by to introduce yourselves!
